UNITING SAUDER'S MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS:

STUDENTS

BUSINESS
CAREER
CENTRE

DEAN'S OFFICE

UNDERGRADUATE
OFFICE (UGO)

1. INCREASE EXPOSURE OF OTHER BCOM PROGRAM SPECIALIZATIONS

  • Work with the BCC to implement more mentorship programs (ie: Entrepreneurship Mentorship Program)

    • The only programs that currently exist are: The Brand Management Mentorship Program, The Portfolio Management Foundation, and the Strategic Consulting Management Program

  • Increase exposure of firms beyond the "Big 4" Accounting firms by seeking corporate partnerships in different industries

    • This by no means implies decreasing our current partnership with CPA, rather it is an effort to invite a more diverse range of companies to events such as Business Week and Commerce Week (see Involvement)

    • Efforts also include working with the BCC to invite companies closer to each specialization's recruit timeline and implementing industry-specific recruit workshops leading up to recruitment season

2. INFLUENCE MAJOR DECISIONS MADE BY STAKEHOLDERS WITH STUDENT'S VOICES IN MIND

  • Build a strong relationship with the Dean's Office by initiating monthly meetings with Sauder's new Senior Associate Dean of Students*

    • Currently, the CUS does not meet with any representative of the Dean's Office on a consistent basis. Implementing these mandatory meetings will allow the Dean's office to gain a better understanding of student's needs and priorities

    • **This is a newly created position by the Deans Office, therefore it is essential that the CUS is proactive in fostering a strong relationship

  • Redesign Satisfaction Surveys to improve current student resources

    • The BCC Satisfaction Survey in which the BCC surveys for student opinion on our career programs are designed only by faculty members. The CUS should be more involved in the design of these surveys in order to help the BCC formulate survey questions more relevant to students in order to improve current career resources (ie: COOL workshops and company informational sessions)

    • The UGO Satisfaction Survey is currently presented only once a year to the CUS highlighting student feedback in all areas pertaining to Academics. The UGO collects the data to not only decide on major decisions (for instance, the newly created First Year requirements), but also to provide statistics on the Sauder population.

      • Similar to the BCC Surveys, these surveys are designed only by faculty members. The CUS should make an effort to partner with the UGO in creating these questions to not only improve our academic environment, but also to find out what students REALLY want to know about the statistics of our Faculty (ie: how many students ride bikes to school!?)

3.  INCREASE STUDY SPACES AND EXTENDED CLC HOURS DURING EXAM SEASON

  • Work with Sauder's building operations to create more space during exam season

    • Fully utilize the CPA hall area by adding additional tables and chairs designated for students to study during peak season, alongside providing water stations in the proximity

  • Work with the Canacord Learning Commons to implement extended hours

    • Work towards advocating for the CLC to operate longer hours during final exam season (Mo-Th until 12:00am and Fri until 10:00pm)
