LET'S BRING BACK THAT SAUDER SPIRIT.
1. ENHANCE SAUDER'S BACK TO SCHOOL EVENTS
-
Enhance Term 1's Business Week and BRING BACK Term 2's Commerce Week
-
Business Week should be redesigned with more community building events rather than it's current major focus on promoting clubs. Clubs should still be able to booth, however the CUS should implement different activities each day from Monday to Friday that have a focus on bringing together students of every year. (Example: Faculty-wide scavenger hunt in teams, Slip'n'Slides, P.O.I.T.S, etc.)
-
Commerce Week should be brought back for Term 2. Currently, there are no back to school events for Term 2 and this should be changed. By Term 2, new Sauder students have familiarized themselves with the faculty and the various resources that Sauder offers. Therefore, Commerce Week should have have an emphasis on mixers with different companies from various industries (similar to Icecream with PwC during Business Week) alongside different activities each day from Monday to Friday that make students excited to be back at school!
-
2. CREATE MORE AWARENESS AND PRESENCE FOR THE CUS TO INCREASE STUDENT INVOLVEMENT
-
Initiate a CUS Annual General Meeting in the start of Term 1
-
The CUS should introduce themselves to all students by facilitating a CUS AGM where new students can connect with CUS representatives and other senior students. The AGM should feature full presentations of the hierarchy of the CUS and it's operations in order to increase interest for upcoming Elections. Additionally, there should be a networking portion where students can get to know CUS representatives a bit better and gain guidance on how to become more involved (both within the CUS and out!).
-
3. RECOGNIZE STUDENTS FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
-
Actively promote student accomplishments in all media channels (namely Sauder Big Screens)
-
In a collaborative effort with the BCC, students who have earned themselves internships or are recognized for their contribution to the CUS should be featured as "Success Stories" throughout Sauder. Doing so fosters a sense of pride within the Sauder community and encourages students to become more invested in their undergraduate experience and fully utilize the resources available to them.
