BUILDING A STRONG STUDENT SOCIETY IS A TWO - WAY STREET.

3. REDESIGN BOARD MEMBER ROLES TO INCREASE VALUE OF THE CUS AND IT'S STUDENTS

  • Implement Term Strategy Plans for each Board member on the BoD

    •  It is imperative that Board members take on a larger role in order to fulfill their initial campaign promises to students. Before transitioning into their roles, each Board member should publically publish a minimum 1 page brief on official CUS channels of how they plan to fulfill their platforms in order to build accountability and promote change within the student organization.

    • Board members should also re-cap their achievements at the end of each term on offical CUS channels in order to allow students to tangibly see the progression and improvements made by the Board.

1. CREATE TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION BY INCREASING STUDENT INVOLVEMENT IN ALL CUS BUSINESSES & DISCUSSIONS

  • Create a LIVESTREAM service for all monthly Board of Director meetings

    •  Did you know that the student public is invited to all CUS Board and Exec meetings? Each and every single student is welcomed to attend our meetings (there's copious amounts of food too!), yet no one shows up either because 1. They were unaware, or 2. Board meetings can be intimidating. To address these issues, the CUS should proactively promote Board meetings and invite students to attend. Additionally, the CUS should record meetings LIVE so students can listen to the meetings in the comfort of their own home. Doing so will give students the opportunity to stay informed with all CUS businesses and discussions.

  • Live Tweet monthly Board of Director meetings and weekly Executive meetings

    • The CUS Public Relations Director should be live tweeting not only major CUS decisions (ie: BREAKING NEWS: NIBC just received $60,000 in funding!), but also interesting conversations during BoD meetings  (ie: SHOTS FIRED! Person A said XYZ to Person B!). This will not only simplify Board meetings in ways that students can better understand, but also engages students and fosters a sense of community within our student society.

2. IMPROVE CLUB OPERATIONS BY PROVIDING INCREASED RESOURCES

  • Initiate a CUS Clubs retreat in the beginning of the year

    • Similar to the CUS Service Council retreat hosted every year, the CUS should implement a similar retreat for all CUS affiliated clubs. Clubs play a vital role in the success of our students, however, if clubs feel alienated from the resources provided by the CUS, their potential will not be maximized. This retreat should include the following:

      • Succession planning (how to transition into their Presidential roles)

      • Workshops that teach club presidents how to interview candidates, how to successfully plan events, and how to manage their new teams

      • FAQ session and presentations created by the CUS Executives that inform clubs of how to obtain SPF funding, CUS marketing policies, Financial reimbursements, and other important resources and policies
